It is with great excitement that recently, Howard Hughes Holdings Inc.  announced the first retail and restaurant offerings coming to its 70-acre mixed-use development Village Green at Bridgeland Central – the first of many additions to come in the 925-acre emerging urban district. The list of retailers will offer a varied selection of goods and services including Jonathan’s The RubSweet Paris Crêperie & CaféCrust Pizza Co.,  Venetian Nail SpaTeal Poppy, and Gelato & Co. With the expansive growth of Bridgeland and the announcement of these six new businesses and services coming to the community, it’s an exciting time for Bridgeland and area residents.

“We know Bridgeland residents have been eagerly anticipating the opening of Village Green at Bridgeland Central and the exciting shopping and dining options it will bring,” said Jim Carman, President, Houston Region for Howard Hughes. “Today’s announcement is just the beginning. With the construction of H-E-B, the first timber office building in the Houston region, and now our first wave of retailers and restaurants, Bridgeland Central is off to a fantastic start. There is much more to come as we continue to develop this vibrant community hub for our residents and the entire Houston region.”

Everyone will feel right at home when enjoying a meal at Jonathan’s The Rub. One of Houston’s most beloved family-owned and operated restaurants, the Bridgeland location will be the fourth in Greater Houston, and will introduce casual, yet elegant dining to the community. Their made from scratch menu will offer American-focused cuisine with an eclectic ensemble of cultural-leaning dishes. The over 5,500- square-foot restaurant will include a flexible dining room capable of hosting private events and two additional outdoor patios so you can take in the nearby surroundings. Their bar will feature beer, craft and classic cocktails. If your beverage choice is wine, you’ll be excited to hear their wine list will be curated by an in-house sommelier! Jonathan’s The Rub is scheduled to open fall 2025 for brunch, lunch, happy hour, and dinner.

“We were looking for the ‘next frontier’ that aligned with our brand,” said Brooklyn-born Chef and Owner Jonathan Levine of Jonathan’s The Rub. “We first looked at Bridgeland in 2021, when development within Bridgeland Central had not started. We did our homework and made the decision when we learned it was a Howard Hughes project.”

If you love crepes, you’ll be sweet on Sweet Paris Crêperie & Café, a French-inspired café serving sweet and savory crêpes that introduce hints of other cultures into this European favorite. Inclusive of an outdoor patio space, Sweet Paris will deliver an elevated ambiance designed to transport diners to a charming Parisian café. Started by Allison and Ivan Chavez in 2012 in Houston, Texas, the Bridgeland location adds to the more than 16 locations across the country including those in Florida and Minnesota. Sweet Paris is the third location for franchise owner and operators Mike and Mary Kelton who will also serve salads, panini, waffles, breakfast, and specially crafted beverages.

Also coming to Bridgeland Central is Texas-based Crust Pizza Co. that will be serving its award-winning, Chicago-style thin-crust pizzas, along with pastas, salads, desserts, wine, beer, and more. You may already know of them from their locations in Cypress and The Woodlands to name a few. Founded in 2011 by childhood friends Clint Price and Mark Raspberry, Crust Pizza Co. continues to grow with Bridgeland being its 11th location to open, and seven more are coming soon! The Chicago-style pizza is made with fresh dough and freshly shredded cheese. Their location in Village Green will include an outdoor patio that’s sure to be a place to go to have fun and connect with family and friends.

Venetian Nail Spa is dedicated to providing all guests with an elevated service experience that nurtures the body and mind by offering nail care, skincare and wax treatments. The nationally acclaimed nail salon and spa has over 70 salons across the country. Clients can also purchase environmentally conscious lifestyle products for self-care at home.

Expanding into Village Green with its third storefront in Texas will be Teal Poppy, a premier independent women’s clothing and gift boutique, offering a selection of the latest fashion trends and memorable gifts. Store items will be handpicked from design showrooms nationwide by Founder Heather Alexander, so that all women will leave feeling beautiful. You’ll find it easy to find what you’re looking for in their artistic space that will include a 2,500-square-foot custom muraled showroom.

Life is too short to skip dessert. Soon you’ll be able to enjoy a tasty treat when Gelato & Co. comes to Bridgeland’s Village Green. Serving authentic Italian Gelato, the family business aims to create an atmosphere inspired by Dolce Vita, meaning enjoying life to its fullest by taking time to appreciate the simpler things. The Bridgeland location will be its second and will include an outdoor patio space so you can enjoy a variety of 20 gelato flavors that will be made on-site daily. Dairy-fat-free sorbets will also be available, so everyone can enjoy a little something sweet.

It’s an exciting time for the Bridgeland community as the 925-acre urban district continues to attract a variety of local and national businesses to Northwest Houston. These six additions to Bridgeland Central are anticipated to open doors as early as quarter two 2025. Also part of Village Green and slated to open by the end of 2024 will be an over 100,000-square-foot H-E-B and Houston’s first mass timber office, One Bridgeland Green, slated to open in summer of 2025.
